Did you ever want to stream your webcam live? Do you have a website or blog that requires you to interact with your users? Do you give out information?

An excellent way of getting known and creating buzz is through videos. What if your videos where live and could permit you live interaction. I’m sure it could be a powerful and inexpensive tool.

I know of two sites that allow you to stream your webcam for free. The principal is simple. The site provides a channel and you air your show. Everything is quite easy and simple to setup, I tried these services first.

The first is CamStreams and the second is BlogTV. From their site you will be able to figure out the rest and get your show on air. The thing I like is that you are supposed to go to their site and search for shows to watch or log on to a particular show.

What if you want to have a video player on your blog and air it from there also? Blog TV just give you the embed code. CamStreams, no problem, there is a little hack permitting you to do just this. Here’s how…

With CamStreams, view page’s source by clicking “view > page source” in FireFox, with IE it’s “page > view source”. This will a wordpad document containing the source code of the page you where whatching. Hit “CTRL + F” to open a search box. Type “param name=”FileName” value=”

There will be a few “param name…” lsited, for look a url ending with “user=xxxx” like this:

http://www.camstreams.com/asx.asp?user=wxflint

This is the url of your stream. To test it paste in in your adress bar and it will open in your Windows Media Player. This is the url to embed in your page. Use the embed media generator if you don’t know how to embed a player.
