Difference between Sitemap and Site Map

Sitemap

A sitemap is an XML document which contains an organized list of links to all pages within the web site. Having a well structured sitemap will help a search engine spider and index the pages. Sitemaps where not intended for humans, but for search engine spiders and bots.

WordPress users have plugins web site owners have Google Webmaster Tools. Plugins are fun because they do all the work for you.

Site Map

A site map is a representation of the architecture of a web site. Site maps are usually a web page that lists the pages all the pages on a web site, typically organized in hierarchical fashion. This helps visitors find pages on the site. Think of it as a site index.

WordPress users always have plugins and web site owners have tough luck. Sorry but I don’t know of any way to do it other than by hand.
